Job description

The chair CAES and its group Testable Design and Test of dependable integrated systems (TDT) are part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science and the research Institute IDS of the University of Twente.

A Senior/Junior researcher position in digital nanoelectronics is available at the CAES-TDT group at the University of Twente. The researcher work will be within the ongoing “Hierarchy-Aware and secure embedded test infrastructure for Dependability and performance Enhancement of integrated Systems (HADES)” European Project. The HADES project aims at providing a hierarchy-aware smart and secure embedded test infrastructure for dependability and performance enhancement of integrated systems. The HADES project is a large European project that involves industrial and academic partners from both the Netherlands and France.

At the CAES-TDT group, our research is on the design of dependable nanoelectronic systems for safety and mission critical systems, such as in automotive (ADAS), medical, avionics and space. Our main focus is on ensuring a dependable life-time operation of complex heterogeneous System-on-Chips (SoCs) by the use of embedded instruments. Currently the HADES team at the University of Twente consists of a senior researcher and one postdoc.

You will be responsible for the research activities concerning the utilization of digital embedded instruments for aging and performance monitoring of SoCs, such as delay monitors. This includes, but not limited to:

  • circuit design of embedded instruments
  • methods for proper location of instruments
  • algorithm development for utilizing the instrument data in enhancing the SoC dependability using, for instance, data fusion and machine learning methods
  • chip (40 nm TSMC) bring-up, testing, and aging experiments.
  • PCB design.
  • For the senior researcher (Postdoc and above), you will be also responsible for some project management tasks.

You will report on your research in scientific papers in international journals and conferences, as well as in HADES technical reports.
