The Donders Centre for Cognition (DCC), embedded in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and the School of Artificial Intelligence at Radboud University (Nijmegen, Netherlands) are seeking two Assistant/Associate Professors to further strengthen their educational programmes and highly reputed research. Your educational responsibilities will be to coordinate and teach AI courses at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels at the School of Artificial Intelligence. You will supervise internships and theses. It is expected that, in the near future, you will be given the opportunity to teach in the fields of your research expertise as well.
With these new positions, the goal is to advance fundamental research in brain-inspired computing, broadly relevant for the themes of the Donders Institute, as well as to develop new human-centred intelligent technology to improve the well-being of people. We seek excellent candidates who aim to bridge the gap between artificial and natural intelligence.
The objective of these positions is to develop state-of-the-art AI research of international standing and to contribute to the teaching, guiding students to grow in insight, skill set and future perspective. The DCC and the Donders Institute provide excellent facilities such as a computing cluster, robot lab, a virtual reality lab, brain imaging, behavioural labs, and a technical support group.

Faculty of Social Sciences
The position will be embedded in the Artificial Intelligence department of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The research in this position will align with the research programme of the Donders Centre for Cognition (DCC), which is part of the Donders Institute. The faculty’s ambition is to become one of the top social science institutes in Europe, providing high-quality research and study programmes that rank among the best in the Netherlands. The Faculty of Social Sciences is the largest faculty at Radboud University, with a total of around 4,500 students spread over three educational institutions.
The Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour is a world-class interfaculty research institute that houses more than 700 researchers devoted to understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of the human mind. Research at the Donders Institute is focused around four themes: 1. Language and communication, 2. Perception, action and control, 3. Plasticity and memory, and 4. Neural computation and Neurotechnology. Excellent, state-of-the-art research facilities are available for the broad range of neuroscience research conducted at the Donders Institute. The Donders has been assessed by an international evaluation committee as ‘excellent’ and is considered a very stimulating environment for top researchers, as well as for young talent.
