The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance is looking for an Education and Research Assistant

Job description

We are looking for an independent, proactive, and fast-thinking person to work closely with the Head of the Migration Group of the institute and support the functioning of its team. You enjoy administration and back-office support as you assist with all tasks related to project support including writing reports and coordinating office logistics. You know how to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines to guarantee the smooth operations of the team. Part of your job will also be logistical tasks like organising meetings, events and conferences, travel bookings, processing reimbursements, and taking minutes of meetings.  You will be required to collaborate with other departments in the institute including HR.

Requirements

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, Dutch language skills is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of Office programs including Excel.
  • Proven experience in performing administrative duties efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Drive and willingness to operate in a fast-moving environment.
  • Organisational skills and the ability to switch tasks.
  • Experience working with an international team is a plus.
  • A sense of humour and flexibility!

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

Maastricht Graduate School of Governance

The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance (MGSoG) prepares professionals and researchers for policy analysis, risk assessment, policy design, policy monitoring, policy evaluation and methods and techniques of policy research. The School is integrated within United Nations University – MERIT (UNU-MERIT). 

Within the institute, the Migration Group consists of a team of international researchers, academics, and migration specialists that work on building migration policy through research and capacity building.  The migration research group focuses on analysing and feeding into the evidence base for providing a bridge between policy and practice. Additionally, this group engages with international organisations, national, region, and local governments and well as other societal actors while having strong relationships with other universities, research institutions and think tanks. The migration group not only engages in applied and fundamental research but is highly engaged in education and capacity building.
