Are you the seasoned student counsellor that knows how to deal with young people having so many choices to make? Who (just) arrived in a new, different, and sometimes bewildering environment, that aims to educate students to become critical world citizens? With over 700 Bachelor students in the EUC community, we are looking to expand our current team of 3 student counsellors with a fourth, Dutch speaking, soon-to-start EUC student counsellor (0.7 fte) working in the Marketing, Recruitment, Counselling & Study Abroad team that is part of the Dean’s Office at EUC.

Job description

Our team’s mission is “to facilitate the best possible intrinsic development of our students in a safe environment, allowing them to maximize their performance”. Our team also infuses the students of the importance of our IPP-ethos, meaning that students are expected to be Informed, to be Prepared and to be Proactive.

Our counsellors give students 1-on-1 guidance and counselling, in both personal and academic issues, for example preparing students for the requirements of various transitions over the course of their studies at EUC (i.e. starting up, the binding study advice, declaring a Major, considering an exchange, preparing for the Capstone project).

The counsellors help designing and implementing relevant EUC policies, and signal and respond proactively to the needs of the student cohorts (i.e. by identifying & sharing academic best practices, giving workshops and/or talks on relevant topics).

The work is done in close cooperation with the student counselling team, as well as with other colleagues within both EUC (such as the Office of Student and Educational Affairs, the student life officer, the examination board and the heads of the academic departments) and EUR (student psychologists and study advisers from other faculties) where necessary.
