Job description

The Undergraduate School of Science and Engineering has a temporary vacancy for a curriculum developer & lecturer. The primary responsibility of this position is to support and supervise UTQ candidates.

Tasks:
• supervising candidates for the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ)
• organise and teach professional development trainings for teaching staff, PhD students and/or student assistants
• support curriculum development within the study programmes of mathematics, computing science and artificial intelligence
• co-teach course ‘Nature of Scientific Disciplines’ within the master’s programme Science Education and Communication.

The trainer will work closely with FSE’s curriculum developers in the PIE Team, as well as with fellow lecturers from the master’s degree in Science Education and Communication. S/he will report to the head of the PIE team and the Director of the USSE.

Requirements

What we expect of you:
● a master degree in mathematics, computing science, AI or related domain, or a master degree in science education
● a PhD degree is an advantage
● experience in teaching in secondary or tertiary science education
● experience in organising professional development activities and curriculum development in higher education is an advantage
● excellent social skills to be able to work in a complex, international organisation
● excellent communication skills in English.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 5 months.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

• a salary with a minimum of € 2,709 up to a maximum of € 4,978 gross per month (salary scale 10-11) for a full-time position

• employment for 0,5 FTE
• in addition to the salary: 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end bonus
• an appointment for 5 months.
