Job description

We are the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE), the youngest of six faculties at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Our faculty is home to several outstanding departments and institutions covering education and research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as the liberal arts and sciences.

We are looking for a Student Affairs Officer to help us put up the organization of the educational logistics for the new bachelor’s programme Circular Engineering. You will be embedded in the central Office of Student Affairs (OSA) team of FSE, where you will work alongside your colleagues to implement and execute your tasks.

The Office of Student Affairs is the main point of contact for all students and staff. We serve two existing master’s programmes (Systems Biology & Biobased Materials) and our new bachelor’s programme Circular Engineering scheduled to start in September 2021. Additional programmes may become part of the OSA portfolio as our faculty grows. The OSA team was established recently and consists of five colleagues all with a different role, background and experience but with a common wish to spend our time at work in the best possible way. To complement the team we are looking for an enthusiastic - preferably experienced - educational administrative professional who would love to help us make things work.

Your role in our team is to:

  • help students find their way in this new programme.
  • administer student support to enrolled students, such as course and exam registration, grades processing, monitor deadlines, graduation processing, providing transcripts, information sessions, and student orientations.
  • answer students’ and teachers’ questions on educational procedures and processes.
  • provide clear communication through CANVAS for our students and teachers.
  • maintain and update the information and forms on the intranet pages.
  • take care of course material.
  • monitor students’ progress.
  • prepare, gather and archive material for accreditations.
  • organise the introduction and graduation ceremonies.
  • be the welcoming colleague to-go-to for everyone involved in the Circular Engineering programme.

Requirements

Job requirements

  • Thinking and acting at MBO+/HBO level, by education and/or working experience.
  • Experience with and affinity for educational administrative work is highly appreciated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Seasoned user of the Microsoft Office package.
  • Experience with SAP/CORSA is an asset.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 yr.

We offer a fixed-term contract for 1 year with a competitive salary for this position of 38 hours a week (1.0 fte). Depending on evaluation, the position is eligible for extension.

The position comes with a number of additional benefits, including:

  • The gross month salary is between € 2.329,- and € 4.012,- based on a full-time contract (38 hours/week) and depending on qualifications and work experience (scale 7-9).
  • On top of your annual salary, there is an annual holiday allowance (8% of annual income) and an annual end-of-year bonus (8.3% of annual income).
