Job description

As part of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship (DCE) is seeking an assistant professor with a strong drive for entrepreneurship in health services and technologies. The position we offer, is a tenure track position that provides you with the opportunity to pursue research and teaching excellence in the emerging field of healthcare entrepreneurship. You will be part of a team that conducts research on technology entrepreneurship: e.g. the early stages of opportunity recognition idea and new market entry strategies. The present position has an aim to conduct research in health entrepreneurship and develop methods to tailor entrepreneurship education for engineering students who are keen to develop medical equipment and services to improve healthcare and make it sustainable. The centre offers education across the faculties at TU Delft. The close collaboration with the faculties and the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Delft, including the tech incubator YES!Delft and various field labs, provide great opportunities to make significant research contributions.

The Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management contributes to sustainable solutions for technical challenges in society by combining the insights from engineering with the humanities and the social sciences. The Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands educates 23,000 students and has  about 5,000 employees. It operates in a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem that focuses on wide array of technologies. The Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship is a key player in offering entrepreneurship education for approx. 900 students annually, at bachelor, master and PhD level across the faculties of the TU Delft. The centre has strong collaborations in both research and education across the TU Delft and beyond. The Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship currently employs 12 FTE who are active in research, education and EU projects.

Requirements

We seek a candidate who is an engaged and ambitious teacher and researcher with a solid experience in teaching and coaching students, preferable, in health entrepreneurship with a hands-on mentality.
You must have a PhD in Business and Management, or related, with a focus on technology entrepreneurship, evidenced by a track record of teaching excellence and publication experience in major entrepreneurship journals.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 6 years.

A tenure-track position is offered for six years. In the fifth year we’ll decide if you will be offered a permanent faculty position, based on performance indicators agreed upon at the start of the appointment. We expect that you have the potential to grow towards an Associate Professor and/or Full Professor role in the future.

Inspiring, excellent education is our central aim. We expect you to obtain a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) within three years if you have less than five years of teaching experience. This is provided by the TU Delft UTQ programme.
TU Delft sets high standards for the English competency of the teaching staff. The TU Delft offers training to improve English competency. If you do not speak Dutch, we offer courses to learn the Dutch language within three years.
