Job description

Using microbubbles to predict microsphere distrubution

Tools to visualize and guide radiated microspheres towards the tumor during internal radiation of liver cancer are limited, resulting in suboptimal treatment and damage to healthy liver tissue. Within this project our aim is to introduce an innovative method, using microbubbles to guide the way for irradiated microspheres and improve treatment outcome.

What you will learn

You will learn about the latest innovations in radioembolization, using both in vitro testing and in vivo application. The imaging and experimental facilities in the Tech Med Centre will be at your full disposal, including fluoroscopy, MRI and ultrasound equipment. This allows you to become familiarized with the full range of imaging modalities used in clinical practice. Furthermore, research oriented US machines (Verasonics, Alpinion) are available to develop and test new imaging sequences. As a gold standard flow visualization technique we employ laser PIV, you will learn how to operate state-of-the-art high speeds camera's and lasers.

Embedding

You will be part of the Multi-Modality Medical Imaging group of the University of Twente. You will work closely within the Imaging & Diagnostics Cluster of the Tech Med Centre. The position is 1.0 FTE for 24 months.
