Job description

We are looking for a research assistant to join our project funded by the Centre of Unusual Collaboration on the representation of unheard and unseen individuals in the hospital, workplace and neighbourhood: https://www.unusualcollaborations.com/the-power-of-one. In this project an interdisciplinary team of researchers is examining why some people are not reached by researchers and policy makers, and how we can improve the self-reliance of these individuals, to help them to make themselves heard. In this phase of our collaboration, we aim to investigate how these barriers can be resolved from the perspective of the unheard and unseen, by working together with for example patient organizations and LGTB-networks using co-creation and participatory design methods.

Job Description
  • You will be the central contact point for an interdisciplinary team of researchers and collaborate on the research project by performing for example qualitative interviews.
  • You will interact with representatives of patient organizations and LGBT-networks, and with the team members develop the research question and perform data collection.
  • You will (co-)write a report communicating the main findings to stakeholders.
  • You will assist with the planning, organization, and administrative tasks to perform the planned research, such as organizing meetings, and preparing ethical review board proposals.
  • You can perform this work remotely, or work from the Centre of Unusual Collaborations in Utrecht, or work from Eindhoven University of Technology.

Requirements

  • A background in the social sciences (e.g., anthropology, psychology) and experience with qualitative research methods (e.g., structured and unstructured interviews).
  • Excellent mastering of the Dutch and English language, and good communication skills, to interact directly with hard to reach populations in The Netherlands.
  • Be punctual and able to work independently.
  • Be a team player and able to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary context.

Conditions of employment

  • A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university.
  • A 0,8fte employment for 1 years.
  • A gross monthly salary and benefits in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities. Salary scale 7, with a range from 2.376 to 3.208 gross per month on a fulltime basis.
