Job description

As a Scientist Bioinformatics, you will be responsible for designing and executing all the data analysis, computational and modeling steps required to discover new molecular signatures and translate them into clinically relevant and commercially viable molecular assays, for diagnosis, prognosis and drug effectiveness prediction.

The assay development trajectory encompasses early discovery research, feasibility studies, and, in support of product development, analytical and clinical validation, preparation of assay registration files, scientific publications, and presentations.

Furthermore, you will contribute to identifying new business opportunities, and you will develop new algorithms and methodologies, whenever off-the-shelf solutions are not available to address the problem at hand.

You will be working with internationally renowned academic partners and SkylineDx’ multidisciplinary development team.

This is a full-time position based at our SkylineDx office in Rotterdam, and you can work according to a flexible scheme combining working at the office and from home.

Currently, we have a great team of close to 50 people in the Netherlands and 20 people working in the US. You will be responsible for helping us support this exceptional group of people and make future growth possible.

Together, we ensure the translation of clinically relevant scientific discoveries into reliable medical diagnostic assays for diagnosis, prognosis and drug effectiveness prediction that will ultimately contribute to improved patient care.

Requirements

  • a PhD degree in Bioinformatics, or related quantitative disciplines (candidates with a MSc and equivalent work experience will be also considered). 
  • ability to understand and design (new) statistical machine learning algorithms.
  • coding skills in R, Python, bash.
  • track record of high-quality research, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • an excellent command in written and spoken English.
  • experience with oncology and genomics data (preferred).
  • experience with survival analyses (preferred).
  • experience with NGS data analysis (preferred).
  • experience in high throughput assay design and analysis (preferred).
  • strong analytical skills and creative approach to problem solving.
  • an excellent command in written and spoken English (pre)
  • a hands-on mentality and result oriented attitude.
  • an entrepreneurial mind-set and are able to work in an environment with high quality standards.
  • the ability to motivate the team and manage both internal and external collaborations.
