Job description

Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) has a vacancy starting 01-01-2023, for a lecturer in Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, or a combination of both disciplines. The lecturer will perform teaching tasks in the fields of Strategic Management and/or Entrepreneurship. Optionally, the candidate can reach out to other disciplines, including Innovation Management, Organization Management, Marketing or International Business. 
The lecturer will prepare and teach courses in our Bachelor in Economics and Business Economics, in U.S.E’s Master programs (International Management, Business and Social Impact, or Business Development and Entrepreneurship) of the School, and/or our program in Fundamentals of Business Economics which is part of the Master’s Science and Business Management.

The candidate will take care of teaching in accordance with the academic and departmental guidelines. Teaching is in English. Furthermore, we expect the candidate to supervise Bachelor and Master theses and other research projects by students.

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to have a thorough knowledge and skills in teaching Entrepreneurship, Strategy, and/or Management, more particularly:
  • a PhD degree in economics, management or a related discipline. Candidates without PhD degree, but with a scheduled or expected PhD defense early 2023, are also welcome to apply;
  • relevant knowledge and skills with teaching in (a subset of) the disciplines: entrepreneurship, strategy, and/or management;
  • teaching experience in an international academic environment with the proven ability to inspire students from undergraduate to graduate levels, apparent from positive assessments by students and peers;
  • excellent communication and coordination skills;
  • excellent command of spoken and written English;
  • teaching experience at Dutch universities is preferred.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary position (0.7-1.0 FTE) for the duration of up to 4 years in an international working environment. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience  - ranges between €3,974 and €6,181 (scale 11-12 of the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities) per month, at a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year.
