The Department of Information and Computing Sciences (ICS) is nationally and internationally renowned for its fundamental and applied research in computer science and information science. In our constantly changing (digital) society, we are continually looking for new, realistic ways to push the boundaries of both science and societal application. We contribute to innovative information technologies through the development and application of new concepts, theories, algorithms, and software methods. With our expertise, we nourish a wide range of interdisciplinary and societal collaboration initiatives. Due to our successful educational programmes and our ambitions in research, the Department of Information and Computing Sciences is expanding. We are therefore searching for an Assistant Professor in Geometry Processing.
As an assistant professor, you will actively engage in research, teaching and supervision in the field of Computing and Information Sciences. In this position your special focus will be on Geometry Processing and related topics such as point cloud analysis, deformable models, 3D mesh processing, 3D registration, geometric modeling, surface reconstruction, and voxel-based modeling. Additional fields that fall under your research interest are physics-based simulation and related numerical methods used in game design and/or realistic fluid simulations. To develop new research collaborations and application areas, you will actively seek internal and external (interdisciplinary) collaborations and acquire funding for research.

The Department of Information and Computing Sciences is nationally and internationally known for its research in computer science and information science. The Department provides and contributes to the undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Information Science, and Artificial Intelligence and a number of research master's programs in these fields. It employs over 200 people, soon to be divided into four divisions: Interaction, Algorithms, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, and Software Systems. The atmosphere is collegial and informal.
You will be embedded in the division Interaction. We explore the interaction between people and (virtual) worlds, multimedia, and information. Moreover, we investigate human-human interaction through technological advancements. We develop novel techniques to research technology-mediated communication and interaction between people, and communication and interaction between systems and people (users). The division consists of four groups that each tackle challenges in the field of interaction technology from their unique perspective: Human-Centred Computing, Multimedia, Social and Affective Computing, and Visualization and Graphics. Our research is related to the Utrecht Center for Game Research.
