Job description

Are you a sensory and perception expert in the field of nutrition?
Do you have a passion for innovation and for incorporating food into a healthy and sustainable future? Then this vacancy is for you!

Your responsibilities
  • you will work closely with the Flavour Science Group on instrumental analyses, in-vivo techniques and sensory and instrumental analyses that help shed light on the perception of flavour in various food products;
  • you will collaborate with the Business Development Team on tailoring expertise propositions to market needs. You will actively contribute to the acquisition of new projects by visiting clients, drafting project proposals and monitoring developments in the field;
  • you will participate in projects as a project leader by overseeing multidisciplinary research teams, monitoring progress and communicating with clients;
  • you will forge new partnerships with market parties and establish relationships with associated research fields, both within and outside the institute, in order to foster a culture of multidisciplinarity;
  • you will share research results in reports, scientific publications and conferences.
You will contribute proactively to the visibility of the expertise and assist the Business Development Team in acquiring new projects. WFBR specialises in the field of nutrition, which will also be your primary area of focus as an expert. We expect you to establish a connection between your field of expertise and associate disciplines to support us in our mission of conducting innovative multidisciplinary research with the aim of developing affordable, high-quality and value-added food and non-food products that facilitate the transition to a circular, biobased and healthy society. This is why we are looking for a team player focused on application, with a proactive attitude and a talent for bringing partners together.

Examples of projects include reformulating products to achieve salt reduction, developing plant-based alternatives to animal protein products and (possibly in the future) delving deeper into the sensory perception of textiles and biobased materials.
