Job description

As Policy Advisor Management Support and Control, you will work for the SBE Board on topics in the field of Organisational Strategy and Development and support mainly the Managing Director and the Dean of SBE. In recent years, the organizational structure of SBE changed into a matrix structure. Furthermore, various institutes were integrated into SBE, such as the Maastricht School of Governance, Maastricht Sustainability Institute, and most recent the Maastricht School of Management. This has consequences for both the size of the School and organisation of strategic and day-to-day processes. At this moment, the post-integration processes of the integrated institutions with different organizational backgrounds, profiles and brands need to be further developed as part of the matrix structure.

You will work closely with the Managing Director and the Dean on the further design of these integration processes with involvement of all stakeholders. Furthermore, you will be working on the development of appropriate and fine-tuned management processes and cycles that optimally fit SBE’s matrix structure. Annually recurring tasks will consist of the preparation of policy texts accompanying SBE’s budget application and the annual report. Next to that, the content-wise preparation of spring and autumn meetings of the SBE Board with the Executive Board and the SBE Departments respectively will be supported by you and you will advise the Board in the preparation of strategy-oriented meetings such as the IAB (International Advisory Board) and DEB (Dutch Deans Economics and Business. Your home base will be the Policy Development and Quality Assurance Office, in which you will collaborate with other driven policy advisors in different fields, secretaries and information officers.

Requirements

You have affinity and experience with policy tasks in the field of organizational management and management control, preferably at an educational or research institute. As an enthusiastic, pro-active, creative and thoughtful team player and professional, you can easily alternate between working individually and in groups of different compositions and at different levels in the organization. You have insight into administrative relationships and consider integrity as important. Furthermore, you have excellent analytical skills and you are a conceptual thinker who is able to translate and operationalize concepts into practice. This enables you to keep the overview of the bigger projects and the many subtasks that need to be done. Ideally, you have a university degree and/or relevant experience in a similar role. You have excellent oral and written communication skills, both in Dutch and English (C1 proficiency level), or are willing to develop these skills.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: We offer a one-year appointment for 1.0 FTe, which might result in a permanent appointment, in a warm and enthusiastic team.

The salary is set at a minimum of € 2,960 gross and a maximum of € 5,439 gross per month (scale 10 UFO profile: Policy Advisor 4 or scale 11 UFO profile: Policy Advisor 3), depending on knowledge and experience and based on the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch universities.
