Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) is hiring a project manager to improve and support the collaboration within the EUR Digital Competence Center (DCC), a hub of expertise for open data and software management that provides training, advice, and practical support to academicand professional services staff.

You will join Erasmus Research Services (ERS) -- a young and dynamic department within Professional Services at EUR -- and work with people from ERS as well as from other EUR departments and faculties, in particular the University Library and the Erasmus Digitalisation & Information Services.

Job description
Your main tasks and responsibilities will be the following:

Manage Agile team
  • Lead and support the core DCC team to collaborate on small to medium sized projects in an Agile way (scrum master role).

Project management
  • Manage (medium) sized projects as overall project manager (agile or waterfall).

Collaboration
  • You are the first point of contact for the DCC management group on project matters.
  • You are an active member of the core DCC team.

Other
  • Collect information and monitor developments from all faculties (from faculty support staff like data stewards) to initiate proposals for improvements, respond to inquiries, and provide advice.
  • Act as owner of the project management tool.

Requirements

You recognize yourself in the following description:
  • You have an academic background (minimally completed MSc/MA).
  • You have first-hand experience with agile project management as well as waterfall project management methods (Prince2).
  • You effectively and persuasively communicate with people coming from different (academic) backgrounds.
  • Your networking skills allow you to build bridges and reduce conflict in order to achieve a common goal.
  • You are a team player, solution oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
  • You are ‘tech savvy’ and have experience using project management, collaboration and project portfolio tools.
  • You master English very well (minimum CEFR-level C1).

Desirable (but optional):
  • You have some experience with projects developing IT-services for non IT skilled users.
  • You have some experience with developing (and communicating about) infrastructure services.
  • You can read Dutch, job-related, documents well (minimum CEFR-level B1).

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The start date of this position is September 1st, 2023 (or as early as possible) and you will be based at the Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam. The position is for 0,8 fte - 1 fte. The appointment is initially for one year with the prospect of a permanent contract. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.974 to a maximum of € 5.439 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with Scale 11 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision, and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal career budget, work-life balance coaches, discounted collective health insurance, and more. As an employee, you can also use EUR facilities such as the University library and receive a discount on subscriptions for the Erasmus sports center.
