Are you interested in Food Packaging? Do you have hands-on experience in developing packaging material? Would you like to foster students and share your knowledge? We, Wageningen University & Research, are looking for a postdoc in active edible food packaging material. Will you join our team?

What are you going to do?
You will be involved in an exciting project focused on investigating active edible food packaging material.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • conducting experimental activities related to the characterization of bio-based films, including physical, chemical, mechanical, and barrier properties;
  • developing aqueous coating formulations for large-scale processes, with a focus on sustainability and affordability;
  • evaluating the performance of bio-based films in terms of shelf life and sensory acceptability for food products;
  • collaborating with team members to achieve project objectives and milestones within the designated timeframe;
  • providing support for educational activities related to food packaging, including assisting with courses and supervising thesis students.

This is a full-time position with a duration of 2 years (24 months). You will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of food quality design and make a meaningful impact on the development of sustainable packaging solutions.

Requirements

As the ideal candidate you:
  • hold a PhD degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical and/or Packaging Engineering;
  • demonstrated experience in experimental research, preferably in the area of food packaging materials, edible coatings and food quality assessment;
  • have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyse complex data;
  • have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

In our international working environment there is an increasing amount of communication in English. For this position it is about language level C1.

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3226,- and €5090,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 10). Initially, we offer you a one-year contract, which will then be extended with another one-year contract if there is mutual enthusiasm.
