Job description

You teach research methods and statistics at an introductory level for various bachelor programs in the social sciences. Courses may include introduction to research methods, introduction to statistics and introduction to conceptualization and scale construction, partly depending on your interests and abilities. Some courses will be co-taught with other teachers and materials for teaching are available. You will also be encouraged to develop your own line of research.

Requirements

You hold a PhD in one of the social or behavioral sciences and you have experience in teaching at an university. You have good teaching evaluations and a passion for teaching. You are able and willing to stimulate students to systematically reflect on answering questions in the context of Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology and/or Communication Sciences.

You have a strong background in methodology and statistics. You have an excellent command of the English language, as all programs at the University of Twente are taught in English.

You are interested in the relationship between technological developments and society, and in new technology-based ways of collecting and analyzing data. You will be encouraged to develop your own line of research within this field.

We want to stress that candidates with an all-round, broad experience in teaching (various courses) take precedence, since the main part of the position consists of teaching.

Conditions of employment

You are appointed as an Assistant Professor (full-time) for at least one year. Depending on the financial situation of the department, there is perspective on extending the ‘one year position’.

The starting date is September 1, 2017 (negotiable). The gross monthly salary ranges from € 3.475,- up to € 4.757,- gross per month (based on experience) in accordance with the job profile for a “Universitair Docent-2”, under the University System for Job Classification (UJC).

In addition, the University of Twente offers attractive employment conditions (for example, 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus on top of to the annual salary) and excellent facilities for professional and personal development.
