Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, technology oriented and enterprising PhD student with affinity for protein research.

Wageningen Food & Biobased Research, part of Wageningen UR, offers you a challenging and market-oriented environment where motivated scientific professionals conduct research for companies, government and knowledge institutions. The Food Technology group of Wageningen Food & Biobased Research develops new healthy, nutritious and safe products, e.g., products containing less salt and fat, or meat replacers based on plant proteins. The scientific focus of these projects is aimed at the relationship between product properties, ingredient formulation and process technology. Our multi-disciplinary product and process knowledge has, e.g., resulted in the market introduction of products like Beeter, MacuView and Arina Light Cheese.
The development of new, mild separation technologies, such as the dry separation of protein and starch containing crops, plays a pivotal role in our research on meat replacing products. In addition, we investigate the potential of the different proteins to produce a structured meat analogue with optimal sensorial properties.

The PhD position is in collaboration with Food Process Engineering at Wageningen University.
