Job description

In this study, we will focus on the identification of somatic de novo mutations in Semantic Dementia, which is a specific subtype of frontotemporal dementia (ZonMW Memorabel grant 2017). The postdoc will investigate the underlying disease process on DNA, RNA expression and protein level in brains of deceased patients with semantic dementia. For this project, we will study in a multi-omics approach granular cells obtained by laser capture microdissection of the human dentate gyrus. In a bioinformatic analysis of multi-omics data, the postdoc candidate will determine potential candidate proteins relevant for future functional studies

Requirements

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and excellent postdoctoral researcher with:
  • Demonstrated track record in basic/translational research, by preference in neuroscience;
  • Hands-on experience as a molecular geneticist or cell biologist (RNA/DNASeq, immunohistochemistry);
  • Proven track record of (high-impact) publications;
  • Excellent communicative skills and a teamplayer;
  • Good command of oral and written English. To present your data and collaborate with other scientists.
You are being able to present a certificate of good conduct is a condition for the appointment.

Conditions of employment

The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of maximum of € 4.216,- (scale 10), depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Medical Centers (CAO UMC).
