• (Assisting in) the planning, organization, programming and execution of the new Massive Open Online Course in International Humanitarian Law (IHL) of the Grotius Centre’s Kalshoven-Gieskes Forum on International Humanitarian Law (KGF or the Forum).
• More specifically, the Teaching/Research Associate will:
• Assist in the course and curriculum design of the online course;
• Assist in drafting scripts for the online course; 
• Liaise with stakeholders, including students, production and teaching staff;
• Coordinate with the Leiden’s Centre 4 Innovation online learning team;
• Ensure the smooth execution of preparation and production of the online course
• Promote the online course through social media channels;
• Assist in the organisation of ad hoc events, including workshops and roundtables in connection with the online course;
• Reporting on the evaluation of the course and making proposals to further improvement of the online course;
• Provide support for colleagues in the areas of responsibility;

• LLB and/or LL.M. –degree in International Law, preferable with a specialisation in International Humanitarian Law;
• Excellent command of English, and fluent knowledge of Dutch;
• A high sense of commitment and dedication and willingness to assist in on-going teaching and organizational matters of the Forum;
• Strong dedication and commitment to the goals and objectives of the Forum;
• Preferably (practical) experience in the area of International Humanitarian Law and/or Human Rights Law as evidenced by, e.g., internship(s) with one of the international organisations or NGOs dedicated to the implementation and application of International Humanitarian Law and/or Human Rights Law;
• Experience in coordinating and working on mid-term projects in the field of international humanitarian law is seen as an asset;
• Previous working experience in the Forum or a similar institution dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of IHL is seen as an asset;
• An ability and willingness to work collaboratively and collegially in a team.

Fixed-term contract: 9 months.

We offer a fixed-term position for 9 months as of March 2018. Salary range from €2465 to €3292 gross per month on a full-time basis (pay scale 8 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).

By doing this, it aims to create better protection and assistance for victims of war and more respect for humanity in armed conflicts and crisis situations. The Forum aims to help alleviate the suffering of individuals in armed conflicts and to bring more humanity to these special situations of violence. The Forum focusses on promoting and strengthening the respect for IHL and its implementation in national law.
