The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance is looking to hire an Assistant Professor in the field of applied development economics and public policy analysis.

Job description

The Maastricht Graduate School of Governance is looking to hire an Assistant Professor in the field of applied development economics and public policy analysis. The successful applicant will contribute to research and teaching (in English), and will be willing to contribute to other activities of the School, such as project work, writing grant applications and project proposals, and (a limited amount of) administrative duties and committee work.

Requirements

The candidate is required to have expertise in quantitative methods, and would be expected to teach such methods at the Master level. Experience in developing and teaching quantitative methods courses would be an advantage therefore. The candidate is also expected to have thematic expertise in one or more of the following areas: development policy, education policy, governance systems, innovation policy, international relations and conflict analysis, migration, public health policy, public policy evaluation, social protection policy.

Conditions of employment

Initially, candidates are employed on a temporary contract as Assistant Professor (level 2) and agree to specific development goals. Five years into the appointment, candidates will be evaluated and if the development goals have been met, promoted to Assistant Professor (level 1) on a permanent contract. The evaluation can be brought forward if criteria are met earlier. On the candidate’s request the evaluation can be deferred in case of special personal circumstances, such as pregnancy leave, parental leave or chronic illness.
