CoRPS & NTR are looking for a colleague in the function of Postdoc (0,8-1,0 fte - 23 months)

Job description

As a postdoc you shape the CoRPS/NTR collaborative project. You will work with existing data from the Netherlands Twin Register and biobank, with a focus on combining and analyzing genetic and physiological data, thus:

  • Liaise with the collaborative partners of the project as well as the wider consortium
  • Conduct genetic analyses in collaboration with other partners in the Type D consortium
  • Conduct advanced mechanistic analyses on prospective biobank data
  • Conduct genetic analyses in relation to withdrawn behavior
  • Take a leading role in writing up results, and publishing papers

Requirements

  • You have obtained a PhD in behavior genetics, genetic biostatistics or alike and have experience with conducting GWAS analyses
  • Your qualities and interest in individual differences become clear from an excellent thesis and from publications in leading international scientific journals.
  • You have proven experience in handling large quantitative datasets, the execution of complex statistical analysis and you are able to work with specialized software programs. Besides, you have an independent, analytic mind, and you are accurate in your work
  • Good writing and communication skills in English is a prerequisite
  • You are a curious, critical, enthusiastic team player willing to integrate in two research institutes

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 23 months.

Center of Research on Psychology in Somatic diseases (CoRPS)

CoRPS is one of the multidisciplinary research institutes of Tilburg University and part of the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Founded in 2008, and recognized as Center of Excellence in 2014, CoRPS is a cooperation between the departments of Medical & Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Neuropsychology and Methodology and Statistics of Tilburg University, and a solid strategic collaboration with partners from the medical community that have an excellent clinical profile and an established scientific expertise.

 

In this unique project, CoRPS is starting a collaboration with the Netherlands Twin Register (NTR) at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. The NTR was established around 1987 by the department of Biological Psychology and follows twins and their family members through large-scale survey studies and also invites subgroups of twin families for dedicated research projects, including biomarker and molecular genetic studies. NTR research projects have a focus on the genetic epidemiology of complex human traits, including mental diseases, personality and neuropsychology and takes part in many large-scale national and international consortia (see also: http://www.tweelingenregister.org/).
