Job description

You will build up and lead your group with scientific independence. Your research group will contribute to and/or complement the overall goal of the Hubrecht Institute to strengthen its unique position nationally and internationally as a center of excellence in developmental biology and stem cell research.

Research infrastructure and support

The Hubrecht offers a modern scientific environment with excellent facilities and support for setting up and carrying out research in a creative and innovative environment. Researchers get access to all state-of-the-art facilities, including laboratory space, advanced microscopy, FACS, single-cell sequencing and animal facilities. The provided research infrastructure and support facilitate full focus on scientific research at the highest level.

We welcome scientists with a scientific background complementary to developmental biology and stem cell research, including mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science to apply.

To senior group leaders (with more than six years’ experience in leading their own research group): A tenured position and a competitive start-up package.

To junior group leaders: A tenure track position for a period of 7 years and a competitive start-up package.

The Hubrecht Institute is a research inst­itute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), focusing on research in the field of developmental and stem cell biology. The Hubrecht focuses on fundamental research, which also provides insight into diseases, such as cancer and diabetes. For many years, the Hubrecht is an internationally recognized world-class research institute. The institute comprises a team of 24 group leaders with various, multidisciplinary expertise’s. The Hubrecht was founded in 1916, is affiliated with the University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMC Utrecht) since 2008 and established a formal partnership with EMBL in Heidelberg in 2017.

The organization has a flat structure with an informal and collaborative atmosphere. The Hubrecht is housed at Utrecht Science Park “De Uithof”, an international and highly dynamic scientific environment.
