Job description

 You will operate in a small and complementary talented team. The job includes various tasks and you will need to combine the (more substantive) branding and communication activities on the one hand and different organisational tasks on the other. You serve as a contact person for our members, but as a hands-on person you are able to solve practical matters as well.

Examples of tasks and responsibilities in the different fields of activity are:

Communication and web management

- Managing internal and external communication through the appropriate channels, in particular the website, newsletters and brochures.

- Editing and designing annual reports and course guides

- Organising and promoting events, e.g. the dean’s master classes and PhD excellence awards

- Maintaining the website by means of several applications

Organisational and office related activities

- Providing information to members and prospects

- Organising a soft landing programme for newly arriving candidates

- Monitoring the peer-to-peer programme

Requirements

 

Preferably, you already have 3 - 5 years of experience in the field of communication within higher education. You are customer service oriented, have a curious attitude and you are able to work systematically. Other skills are:

• Good communication and social skills

• Fluent in English (preferably at C1-level) and Dutch (verbal and writing)

• Editorial qualities

• Independent, pro-active and self-motivated

• Planning and organisation skills

• Technical skills with the following software:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
  • CMS (Typo3 en Wordpress)
  • HTML

Conditions of employment

Internationally-oriented and varied work within an enthusiastic team, with attractive fringe benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). Your initial employment term will be one year but this may be extended in case of a positive assessment. Your remuneration will depend on the position, your specific knowledge and experience It will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between € 2.514,- and € 3.358,- gross per month (salary scale 8, CAO NU). Erasmus University Rotterdam offers attractive terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 annual leave days in case of a full work week. In addition, EUR takes part in the ABP pension scheme, and we also offer partially paid parental leave. For international spouses we have set up a dual career programme. Moreover, EUR staff members are allowed to make use of the EUR facilities, including the Erasmus sports centre and the University Library. Erasmus Graduate School of the Social Sciences and Humanities (EGSH)

EGSH was established in September 2012 and is a joint venture of four faculties: the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication, the Erasmus School of Philosophy and the International Institute of Social Studies.

The graduate school provides a research and training infrastructure as well as a social environment for talented young researchers. By facilitating doctoral education to over 500 international PhD candidates in a total of 10 academic fields the school nurtures research excellence and a vibrant academic community.
