The research in the group primarily relies on mass spectrometers to characterise and quantify a wide range of molecules. Proteins are of particular interest, either in the form of peptides or whole proteins. We therefore seek a technician to build and maintain the analytical pipeline for LC-MS, MS systems and data analytics. It concerns an appointment for two years with the prospect of a permanent appointment.

As Lab Manager you:

  • will work within a team of scientists to conduct both routine and custom research-based MS analyses and computational analysis and will have to maintain software, instruments, equipment and measurement setups;
  • advise superiors about equipment and processes, as well as about their implementation and ordering of consumables and instrument parts;
  • ensure a safe and clean work environment and organize and perform routine laboratory duties, including maintenance and responsibility for instrument scheduling and usage;
  • will propose and or carry out new developments that improve the analytical capacity of our research;
  • will make observations, analyse/document experimental data and interpret results;
  • are responsible for sample preparation and method development for mammalian cell culture, human tissue preparation, protein and peptide purification, biomolecular interactions, computational analysis and other MS allied-techniques;
  • will train internal and external users in the use of our MS and allied methods (students, trainees and collaborators) and participate in research discussions, including student supervision;
  • will travel to conferences, workshops and collaborators and stay up to date with latest and relevant literature.
