Assistant or associate professor in organisational change and consulting
… in the department of organisation and personnel management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM).
The position starts on 1 September 2019 or sooner, and will be on an assistant professor or associate professor level, depending on the candidates’ level of experience and research track record.
Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate outstanding achievements in both research and teaching in the area of organisational change and consulting (OCC). With a PhD in a related area such as organisation theory, organisational behaviour or sociology, applicants must show a high level of competence in quantitative and qualitative research.
At the assistant professor level, which is a tenure track position, this entails published papers or articles under review in top management journals (see ERIM journal list).
At the associate professor level, which is tenured, applicants are expected to have a track record of high-quality publications (A-level, indicated as P* on the ERIM journal list). Candidates for the associate professor level must have extensive experience in teaching OCC or related courses in bachelor and master programmes, and ideally also at the MBA and executive levels.
Candidates are expected to play an important role in the OCC master programme offered by RSM. As the position may involve teaching in both RSM’s English- and Dutch-taught programmes, fluency in English is required and fluency in Dutch is desirable.
The conditions of employment comply with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO NU). Salary is commensurate with training and experience.
The compensation package is competitive and includes several secondary benefits, such as a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days. Favourable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants.

The department of organisation and personnel management consists of a group of predominantly international staff from renowned institutes in Europe and Asia. Prominent research areas covered in in the department are leadership, management of change processes, organisation theory, diversity management, and stakeholder management. In this research we address societal challenges and the influence of digitisation on the management of organisations and personnel.
Research of the department is published in international top tier journals including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Annals, Organization Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Organization Studies and Journal of Management Studies.
The department has an outstanding PhD programme and an established network of international collaborations, comprising research exchange visits to prominent international schools and including the New Directions in Leadership Research (NDLR) conference, hosted by RSM and other top business schools.
Research within RSM’s department of organisation and personnel management is part of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM), which also provides extensive research support to the faculty. ERIM runs an active seminar series with speakers from top international schools, a separate brown bag seminar, several annual conferences, and a visitor programme with eminent scholars.
