16 Tenure Track Positions at the 4TU-Centre Resilience Engineering

DeSIRE (Designing Systems for Informed Resilience Engineering) is an extensive capacity building program, set-up by the 4TU-Centre Resilience Engineering [www.4tu.nl/resilience], connecting the four universities of technology in The Netherlands: Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology, University of Twente and Wageningen University and Research.

Our ambition: In an increasingly complex and vulnerable world, engineering faces the need to design social-technical-environmental (STE) systems that are adaptive to changing trends and enable agile reactions to shocks. To address this challenge, DeSIRE aims to conduct excellent research of societal value by connecting advances in resilience engineering (RE) with principles of adaptation and learning. We will set-up educational programs to support a new generation of engineers and practitioners to be trained to design, transform and build resilient STE-systems. We established partnerships with several public and private organizations, PP-networks and NGOs.

Positions: Within the program, 16 new tenure track positions have been created (see picture below) at 13 faculties across the 4TU universities, focusing on three RE challenges:

C1.     Resilience Thinking and Design (concepts, approaches of Resilience Engineering, resilience as a design perspective, dealing with cascading effects in STE-systems)

C2.     Measuring, Quantification and Modelling Resilience of STE-systems (advances in data analytics, simulation methods and emergence of new technologies) from an interdisciplinary perspective

C3.     Coordination and Governance of Resilient STE-systems to improve the ability of complex STE systems to maintain their functions in face of adversity.

Opportunities: you will be embedded in a thriving program that has been established to advance the emerging field of Resilience Engineering. You will be working in a team of top scientists and you will have the opportunity to carry out excellent research, set up and contribute to educational programs and work on concrete solutions within our broad network of partners in policy and practice. We foster interdisciplinary collaboration between the 16 tenure trackers, associated scientific staff and public and private partners. All 16 Tenure trackers will be actively involved in the scientific, educational and valorization activities of the DeSIRE program and the 4TU-Centre Resilience Engineering.   • Starting salary between € 3545 to € 5513 gross per month based on your experience;
