Junior Researcher for the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) Center

The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) Center at EUR works at an integral approach on several topics such as HR, Marketing and Communication, Inclusive Education, Student Engagement, Academic Outreach, and Monitoring and Research. We are looking for a Junior Researcher within our Monitoring and Research pillar. The Monitoring and Research pillar has four main goals:

1. To learn more about diversity, inclusion, equity, and access at EUR (e.g., What data do we have? What do these data tell us? What is going well, and which challenges do we face?)
2. To evaluate the use and effectiveness of our IDEA policies, interventions, and products (e.g., did our intervention work as we planned? Why, or why not? Are the changes we accomplished durable?)
3. To support and facilitate both scientific and policy research at EUR regarding IDEA topics (e.g., how can we help to make research teams, research content and research methodology more inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible?)
4. To disseminate our findings by giving presentations at conferences and to write academic and policy papers/reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Job description
As a junior researcher, you will contribute to each of these goals. This involves performing qualitative and/or quantitative research projects. For instance, you might be asked to do reviews of relevant literature or other documents; to perform interviews or focus groups with historically underrepresented staff or students; to use existing registration data to get insights into the composition of our staff and/or student population; or to develop and analyze surveys on IDEA topics. Some projects will lead to academic publications, whereas others will lead to internal policy reports, white papers, or other (international) professional publications.

• An academic level of working and thinking in an appropriate field of study (e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology, pedagogy, or other relevant disciplines), with a MA degree.
• Interest in academic and policy research related to IDEA.
• Experience with data analytical software such as SPSS, STATA, R, Atlas, Excel.
• Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research is a plus. If you have expertise in one of the two, we expect you to have an interest in learning both.
• Strong communication skills in English and Dutch.
• An ability to work both independently and in a team

The start date of this position is 15-MAR-2023 and you will be based at the Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam, located at General Management Directorate (ABD). The position is for 0,8 fte - 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 2.960 to a maximum of € 4.670 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with Scale 10 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme. The General Management Directorate (ABD)

The General Management Directorate (Algemene Bestuursdienst, ABD) is the central staff organisation responsible for the organisation and support of EUR's policy and administration at the institutional level. ABD supports the Executive Board in fulfilling its responsibilities with regard to the quality, accessibility and financing of EUR's education and research programmes. ABD handles the joint design of integrated policy, ensures the timely submission of policy within decision-making procedures and the implementation of the adopted policy measures and constantly monitors and evaluates developments in the interest of further improvement. ABD comprises the departments of Academic Affairs (AZ) including D&I Office, Corporate Planning & Control (CPC), Administrative Affairs (BZ), Legal Affairs (JZ) and the Chief Information Office (CIO). The independent university publication Erasmus Magazine also falls under ABD in organisational terms. The management directorate is headed by the Director of the General Management Directorate, who also serves as Secretary of the Executive Board.
