Job description

To ensure smooth HR operations during maternity leave, we are seeking a temporary HR officer for a seven-months period from June up to and including December 2025. In this role, you will support the HR team in key operational tasks and employee support, ensuring continuity in HR services.

Your daily activities and main responsibilities include:
  • Provide HR administrative support, including contract processing and onboarding/offboarding of employees
  • Act as a first point of contact for HR-related queries from staff and managers
  • Assist in recruitment and selection processes, including vacancy postings and interview coordination
  • Support HR policy implementation and ensure compliance with internal guidelines and labour regulations
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
  • Coordinate internal HR communications and support in employee engagement initiatives

Requirements

About you:
  • A background in HR, business administration, or a related field
  • At least five years of experience in an HR support or advisory role
  • Knowledge of Dutch labour laws and HR regulations is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with the HR team
  • Experience in an international or academic environment is an advantage
  • Fluency in English and Dutch (both written and spoken)

Some specifics:
  • The position is based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands
  • Seven-months period: June up to and including December 2025
  • 0,6 fte
  • The minimum gross monthly salary is € 3.218 with a maximum of € 4.298. This is based on 40 working hours per week and on the salary scale 8 of the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO NU).
  • IHS has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8.0%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 30 annual vacation days in case of a full work week.
  • The ideal starting date is 1 June 2025.

Please note that IHS has its own Labour Conditions and does not follow the full CAO-NU, only for the salary development.

Department

The HR team at IHS consists of the Head of HR and three HR officers, who work together to support staff and leadership on HR-related matters. One of our HR officers will be on maternity leave during this period, and we are looking for a temporary replacement to help maintain seamless HR services.
