Your position
You are hired as a PhD candidate in economics. Your role is to help advancing science and the lives of future generations in this time of transition. We search for someone who is curious, connecting, caring and courageous.
In collaboration with one or more faculty members, you work on research that results in several academic papers and a PhD thesis, leading to a promotion to doctor at the end of your contract period. In addition, for about 20% of the position’s time, you will contribute to teaching lectures or tutorials at the undergraduate or graduate level and may also be involved with master or bachelor thesis supervision or research assistance.
The PhD position will be based in the Department of Economics, an active, high-quality and high-impact research group of TiSEM with more than 30 researchers at the assistant, associate and full professors level and around 30 PhD candidates (joint with the Econometrics Department). The Faculty covers a wide range of research topics and methods in micro-economics, macro-economics, economic theory and applied econometrics belong to the leading groups in Europe. You will be able to benefit from the department’s strong research focus and its numerous resources (e.g., databases, research seminars, brown bags and reading groups, workshops, international conferences, etc.).
The topic of your research and your supervisor(s) will be determined in accordance with your interest and expertise. Depending on your qualifications and your research project, you may be required to take some courses in the Research Master program of the CentER Graduate School of Economics at Tilburg University.

In addition to your monthly salary, you will receive 41 vacation days (for a 40-hour work week), a holiday allowance (8%), and a year-end bonus (8.3%).
