Job description

Are you an experienced marketing and recruitment adviser who optimally positions Maastricht University and thinks along about reaching prospective students? Do you have an affinity with social media and an online approach? Do you know how to convince colleagues of the best approach through monitoring and analysis? Do you speak prospective students’ language and know their needs and behaviours?

Then Maastricht University has a challenge for you. In this role, you will help draw up marketing plans and coordinate the implementation together with a team of (online) experts and student assistants. Of course, you will also be involved in the implementation. You are part of the central Marketing & Recruitment team and work very closely with colleagues from the faculties.

You will be a part of the central Marketing and Communication department, which develops and implements marketing and communication policy together with colleagues from the faculties. The department consists of five teams: corporate communication, editorial, marketing and recruitment (M&R), events, and digital innovation. This position falls within the M&R team, which consists of nine people.

Your responsibilities:

  • Your duties may vary from day to day and include:
  • Drawing up marketing plans based on research into the needs of the target group and educational developments in the Netherlands and abroad;
  • Proposing and co-developing concepts and tools such as recruitment campaigns, website content, videos etc. based on your knowledge of the target group;
  • As part of lead management, ensuring the implementation and coordination of activities in close cooperation with faculties;
  • Planning, measuring and evaluating tools and implementing proposals for improvement;
  • Retrieving information and collaborating with other policy and service departments such as admissions and internationalisation;
  • Representing the university; preparing and giving presentations both online and offline;
  • Managing student assistants and coordinating their work.

Requirements

  • University degree;
  • Relevant work experience in the communications and marketing field;
  • Experience in higher education is a plus;
  • Knowledge of current developments within the field, for example expertise in SEO, SEA and social media;
  • Focus on cooperation and creating consesus;
  • Skilled in operating in complex organisations;
  • Proactive and energetic discussion partner who knows how to persuade;
  • An analytical thinker who can translate analyses into concepts and tools and is able to think outside of existing frameworks;
  • No 9-5 mentality: working weekends and evenings is common;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English.

Conditions of employment

Temporary employment: 1 year with a view to permanent employment if suitable.

The position is graded in salary scale 10 in accordance with the UFO profile Communications Adviser, job level 3 (max € 4.670 gross per month, based on a full-time employment).
