The role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Scannexus is a part-time position combined with a professorship at UM. The CEO has one leg firmly in the science of ultra-high-field MRI focused on education, research and clinical impact, and the other in a research platform focused on valorization and commercial development of the Technology Platform. Always drawing on knowledge of advancing technology, required expertise and potential applications.
Scannexus B.V. is an ultra-high-field MRI facility, accelerating fundamental and applied neuroimaging research, enriching translational biomedical research in a clinical environment and facilitating the innovations and R&D of companies on Brightlands Maastricht Health Campus and beyond.
Established from the triple helix, it is a public-private entity closely linked to the research of Maastricht University and Maastricht UMC+.
The technology available to Scannexus includes:
This platform combines high quality infrastructure with professional services focusing on applications in university research and valorization in the academic clinic and commercial setting. For further details see https://scannexus.nl
For this position we are looking preferably for a professor who is an academic authority in the field of (ultra-) high-field MRI research and who knows how to further develop this technology (in close coordination with the supplier (Siemens Healthineers)). She/he combines this with proactively maintaining and expanding collaborations with research groups and external companies.
The CEO uses his/her (inter)national network in the (ultra-) high-field MRI community and actively seeks rapprochement and cooperation with other MRI centers at home and abroad.
Besides the current spearheads, cognitive neuroscience and functional imaging, the translation of ultra-high-field MR to clinical application is central. In doing so, it is important to further develop other application areas, such as metabolic and oncology, in addition to neuro imaging. A visionary outlook and broad managerial experience are crucial in this regard.
The stakeholders of Scannexus (Maastricht University and Maastricht UMC+) expect sound management of this valuable research and valorization platform. The CEO is ultimately responsible for this. A Managing director in the field of financial and (daily) operational processes supports the CEO. Together with this Managing Director, the CEO integrally manages the staff of Scannexus BV (currently 9 fte). The CEO has a clear vision on connecting leadership and stands for an organization in which diversity, inclusiveness, involvement and cooperation are core values.
Because of his/her academic authority on (ultra-) high field, the CEO outlines a strategic vision for Scannexus fitting in the context and also actively and easily communicates this to the outside world. As CEO of Scannexus, you have an open and transparent attitude and are someone who listens and asks critical questions, has sufficient self-reflective capacity, inspires as a role model, and knows how to create support for past and future (policy) decisions.
Finally, from his/her position as a UM professor, the CEO also feels responsible for training future talent and also carries out regular teaching and research tasks The candidate has a strong track record in setting up scientific research, acquiring external research funding and supervising and training scientists. Affinity with and experience in education is also of added value. A personal, face-determining contribution to the educational programs of Maastricht University, including the master's in Imaging Engineering, is therefore expected.
We offer a 0.8-1.0 FTE appointment at Maastricht University, of which 0.4 FTE is dedicated to the tasks as CEO Scannexus.
At which faculty the appointment is made depends on the profile and expertise of the candidate. The faculties concerned are, the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML), the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) and the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience (FPN).
The salary depends on experience and qualifications. A suitable offer will be made to the candidate during the procedure. The starting point is an appointment as Professor 2 with a maximum salary of € 8.881 gross per month based on a full-time appointment and in accordance with the UFO Profile Director Research Institute 2 of the Collective Agreement for Dutch Universities.
The terms of employment at Maastricht University are largely set out in the Collective Agreement for Dutch Universities. In addition, local provisions specific to UM apply. For more information consult the website http://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl > About UM > Working at UM.
