Job description

In addition to research, ultra-high field MRI (7T) offers many opportunities for clinical applications. Despite the availability and various possibilities, MRI scanners with magnetic fields of 7 Tesla have not yet been integrated into clinical practice. You will be responsible for recruiting and supporting new projects, from contacting potential clinical users (physicians) and industrial partners to setting up 7T MRI protocols and supporting ongoing external projects. The emphasis is on clinical (diagnostic) applications of the 7T MRI but also includes 3T MRI and contacts with academic, pharmaceutical and industrial customers. There is room for your own research and working on technical developments but this is not necessary. Both employer and employee will determine the exact tasks, based on the capabilities and interests of the employee, as well as wishes from the centre.

Requirements

  • PhD in MR physics or related topics
  • Experience with MRI, preferably 7T
  • Good communication skills, both in English and Dutch.
  • Affinity with business development is an advantage

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 years.

This is an employment of up to 1.0 fte for two years on a combination of internal and external funds. Pending good performance, extension is a possibility for a tenured position for 0.5 fte. The other 0.5 fte will be determined by mutual agreement.

The appointment is at the Spinoza Center and Amsterdam UMC - location AMC, department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine in close cooperation with the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, department of Computational Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging.

Depending on education and relevant work experience, the gross monthly salary for full-time employment is between €2,960 and €6,181 (salary scale 10-12 CAO Dutch Universities), excluding 8% vacation allowance and 8.3% year-end bonus. Besides travel expenses, you will receive a fiscal commuting allowance, pension provision (70% paid by the employer), flexible working hours, 30 days holiday leave, partially paid parental leave and a weekly Friday afternoon drink
