Assistant Professor Dental Public Health

The Chair for Quality and Safety of Oral Health Care at Radboud University Medical Center seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Dental Public Health (fulltime, part-time possible) to carry out innovative research to advance evidence-informed public health policymaking for better oral health in poor and vulnerable population groups. Applying quantitative and qualitative methods, the Assistant Professor is envisioned to:

• Evaluate the impact of food policies, digital health innovations, and macroeconomic dynamics (e.g. price inflation) on people’s oral health.
• Assess the needs and preferences for oral health and care from the perspective of citizens and oral health professionals (e.g. by means of conjoint analysis).
• Quantify financial barriers in access to essential oral health care.
• Identify drivers and barriers in policymaking to improve population oral health.
• Engage with citizens, policymakers, health professionals, and health insurers to co-develop innovative strategies for population oral health improvement.

The Assistant Professor will liaise with internal and external collaborators, contribute to teaching activities, and take care of relevant administrative matters of the Chair for Quality and Safety of Oral Health Care.

Furthermore the Assistant Professor has the following tasks and responsibilities: 

• Conduct research regarding evidence-informed public health policymaking for better oral health in poor and vulnerable population groups.
• Contribute to teaching activities in dental public health. 
• Liaise with and coordinate collaboration with internal and external collaborators. 
• Support the Chair for Quality and Safety of Oral Health Care in all scientific, educational, and administrative matters. 
• Preparation of research results in the form of publications in international journals as well as presentations at national and international conferencesWillingness to write grant proposals. 

We are looking for an Assistant Professor with a PhD degree in public health, health services research or health economics. You have ambition and the ability to become Assistant Professor in the Radboudumc Talent Track. You have proven success in creating impact via publications as first or senior author and a proven track record in acquiring research funding. 

We work in interdisciplinary and international teams, therefore you are fluent English (spoken and written). If you are not speaking Dutch already, you  have the commitment to learn the Dutch language. Moreover, you have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Subsequently, you are able to acquire new skills for research and education. But you also already have some of the required skills, such as excellent skills in excellent skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.

Employment will initially be for three years, and can be extended upon positive evaluation for entrance into the Radboudumc Talent Track & Carreer Track. Working at Radboud university medical center means that you are ahead of the curve and working together on the healthcare of the future. • A gross monthly salary between € 5.249 and € 6.717 (scale 12) based on full-time employment. 
• From 1 November 2023 the wages will increase by 4%.
• An annual vacation allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
• If you work irregular hours, you will receive an allowance.
• As a full-time employee (36 hours per week), you are entitled to approximately 168 vacation hours (over 23 days) per year.
• Radboud university medical center pays 70% of the pension premium. You pay the rest of the premium with your gross salary.

The Chair for Quality and Safety of Oral Health Care is at the forefront of leveraging health economics, improvement science, and multi-disciplinary research methods to enable access to good oral care for everyone.
