Job description

The Educational Staff Development team of the Center for Information Technology at the University of Groningen is looking for an educational advisor/trainer and invites candidates to respond to the profile description and offer below. We are looking for an advisor/trainer (1.0 FTE) with broad expertise and experience in the field of teacher professionalization.

Our advisors/trainers provide advice and guidance in the area of teacher professionalization, including coaching individual teachers and advising on educational development. We also provide and develop didactical courses for lecturers, PhD students, and other education professionals at the University of Groningen. As an initiating discussion partner for lecturers and managers in higher education, you support the continuous improvement and innovation of education. In addition, you will ensure a dynamic, effective and informed implementation of the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ). Supervising and training lecturers within the UTQ will be a substantial part of your duties.

Team Educational Staff Development
Team Educational Staff Development (ESD) is one of the five teams of Domain Education of the CIT and is responsible for developing and implementing the professionalization offer for RUG lecturers with the aim of ensuring the quality of education. The team consists of 12 educational advisors and 1 support coordinator. We also cooperate a lot with other teams of Domain Education within the CIT, faculties of the RUG and policy makers.

The main task of the team is to develop and implement training courses and to supervise individual teachers. This includes training and coaching lecturers who are in the process of obtaining their University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) or Senior Teaching Qualification (STQ). We also provide a wide range of didactic training for the continuous professional development of PhDs and lecturers. The team is also involved in various UG-wide educational projects, such as Open Educational Resources and the Active Learning Classroom.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position is/has:

- a completed WO education in the field of educational sciences or (developmental) psychology, combined with educational expertise and experience. Having a PhD is a plus
- experience or affinity with consulting and training for education professionals, preferably in higher education
- experience or affinity with educational research and able to translate current scientific insights into educational practice
- experience in bringing together different didactic requirements and creatively translating them into an educational solution
- experience in giving (developmental) feedback on assignments and portfolios or be motivated to develop in this
- a discussion partner for teachers and managers in higher education
- enterprising and innovative
- independent and cooperative
- good communication skills in Dutch and English, both written and oral
- a professional attitude and scores high on the competences social skills, customer-oriented, enthusiastic, analytical, eager to learn and result-oriented
- preferably experience as a teacher within or outside higher education, whereby possession of a UTQ or STQ is an advantage
- knowledge of recent developments concerning the University Teaching Qualification, blended learning, testing, internationalization and educational innovation in higher education.

Conditions of employment

We offer in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary of minimum € 3,226 (salary scale 10) to maximum € 5,929 (salary scale 11) gross per month for a full-time position, depending on qualifications and experience
- a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% of your gross annual income
- a temporary employment contract for the duration of 1 year with the possibility of
converting it to a permanent contract upon satisfactory performance and depending on organizational developments
- attractive fringe benefits such as the Employee Benefits Choice Model and a good pension and leave plan.

A Certificate of Conduct (VOG: Verklaring omtrent Gedrag) may be requested for this position.
