The Department of Operations is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. The department is seeking candidates for part-time and full-time lecturers’ positions in the area of Supply Chain Management and Operations Management.
We are a highly regarded and productive research group. Our cutting edge (inter)disciplinary research is currently built around the themes of supply chain integration, supply chain resilience, health care operations, production planning & control, asset management, and sustainability in supply chains, operations, transport and energy supply (see: https://www.rug.nl/feb/organization/departments/operations/research) and is regularly published in top tier journals. We use a large variety of research methods (case study, archival data, simulation, modelling) and deal with applied, as well as fundamental research questions. The University possesses very good research facilities. Members of the Operations department have an excellent network in industry, providing access to (industry funded) organizational field research. The department has an internationally oriented work environment and collaborates with leading universities around the world. We are responsible for 2 one-year English spoken MSc programs: Supply Chain Management and Technology & Operations Management. In addition, we participate in a one-year English spoken MSc Econometrics, Operations Research and Actuarial Studies program. Our department further contributes to several degree programs at the Bachelor level and to the Research Master of the graduate school.
We currently have 8 full professors, 1 visiting/honorary professor, 11 associate professors, 23 assistant professors, 18 PhD students, and 11 lecturers.
We encourage (recently/almost) graduated PhD students from relevant fields to apply. Teaching tasks are dependent on experience and qualifications and include tutorials, course coordination, marking, mentoring, thesis supervision, course development.
Courses are led by experienced teachers, who act as supervisors for junior staff members. We offer a stimulating environment, where you can continuously improve and expand your teaching skills.
Depending on interests, experience, and qualifications, a maximum of 20% of the workload will be allocated to research. The duration of the part-time or full-time appointments is between 1 and 3 years.
Conditions of employment
Fixed-term contract: 36 maanden.
We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:
- a starting salary depending on qualifications and work experience from a minimum of € 3,226 gross per month (salary scale 10) to a maximum of € 5,929 gross per month (salary scale 11) for a full-time position
- 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees; favorable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants
- contracts for 1 to 3 years can be discussed. The percentage of research time depends on your expertise and qualities, with a maximum of 20%.
