Do you want to  work as a teacher at an international university? Do you have a link with information literacy, and would you like to work with a driven team to teach this subject to TU/e's students? Then please read on!

An ambitious university requires committed support for its students and scholars. Within the Library and Information Services (LIS), the library (www.tue.nl/library) is responsible for a wide range of services. One of its core tasks is to develop and teach information literacy. Information literacy focuses on professional and responsible use of information within the academic process.

The position
Your role as Information Literacy Teacher combines online and on-campus teaching, with the main target group being undergraduate students of all TU/e departments.

We are looking for a customer-focused and enthusiastic teaching professional, to help shape our information literacy education. Organizationally, the position falls within the product area "Library and Open Science".

Your main tasks will be:
  • Providing on-campus training and workshops to undergraduate students.
  • Providing instructions and assistance to students when completing assignments.
  • Assessing assignments and providing appropriate feedback.
  • Providing support to students, researchers, and other university staff concerning information literacy-related topics.
  • Actively contributing to adapting existing and creating new educational materials.
  • Supporting the educational coordinator in evaluating courses and aligning with faculty demand.
  • In collaboration with colleagues, you will provide appropriate chain services for researchers and students.

In addition, you contribute to further developing our educational services and materials. You will be part of a small, but salient team of three educational professionals. In the future, this team may also provide support/advice towards the development of training and educational materials in other areas of the LIS service.

This experience may have been acquired through academic coursework during your studies, or you may have gained practical experience in an academic environment.
  • You have demonstrable experience and affinity with teaching (blended) education to young adults.
  • You can adapt your teaching style to different types of students and varying group sizes. You are communicative, precise, proactive and a team player. You are eager to learn and have a flexible attitude.
  • The formal language of communication at TU/e is English. Therefore, a strong command of the English language (at least CEFR-C1) is a requirement. You should be able to communicate effectively and accurately in both spoken and written English. Proficiency in the Dutch language is considered an advantage.

  • In addition, you will receive a standard year-end bonus of 8.3% of the annual salary (equivalent to one month's salary) and your vacation allowance is 8% of the annual salary.
  • It concerns an employment contract for the period of one year with the intention to extend the employment contract after one year or to convert it into a permanent position.
