Job description

Do you enjoy interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders? Are you eager to help shape the future of European industrial policy? Do you want to learn more about how the latest socio-technical trends are disrupting European supply chains? And are you excited about understanding how governments can provide better conditions to increase the resilience of European supply chains?

Job Description

Eindhoven University of Technology is offering a fully funded, postdoc position on the development of policy scenarios to increase the resilience of European supply chains, as part of the EU-funded project "ReSchape: REshaping Supply CHAins for Positive social impact".

The recent pandemic and geopolitical tensions have completely changed the globalization paradigm expanding the borders of value and supply chains (SC) with a shift in trade patterns and consumer dynamics. On the one hand, the acceleration of digital technologies and the reduction of obstacles to international trade facilitate the integration of EU companies in global value chains. On the other hand, the profound transformation of global value chains has raised significant social, economic and environmental challenges, including increasing divergence in productivity, labour market effects, working conditions in the progress towards resource-efficiency and decarbonisation, with problems of security of and access to strategic supplies. The main objective of the ReSChape project is to propose new strategies and policies to reshape supply chains in a way that lead to a positive impact on social indicators.

As a postdoc candidate, you will analyze how policies from different countries across the European Union aim to support the growth of resilient supply chains. You will participate in a Delphi exercise with industry members and policymakers to understand how such policies may affect the future of European supply chains. You will help simulate the impact of policies on key social indicators. As part of your research, you will be in charge of organizing a workshop with European policymakers to discuss the outcomes of your research.

You will be part of a large team of a European research organizations, from nine different organizations, which aim to develop innovative policy scenarios with concrete recommendations for future supply chains.  You are expected to publish in highly-ranked peer-review journals.
