Job description

Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) is leading in research that is scientifically relevant and relevant to the healthcare sector. This is reflected in a five-out-of-five research accreditation score that ESHPM received in 2021. To keep this front-runner position in research, the school is investing in four themes, including ‘data enabling’. The aim of the investment in data enabling is to make better use of existing data and opportunities to collect new data. This requires a coordinated effort to further improve the access to data and the ability to analyze these data. Data may be qualitative data or quantitative data.

Job description
At ESHPM we’re looking for a coordinator data-intensive research looking that will help us realize our goals. You will get the opportunity to think with us on how to make better use of our current data. This is a new position within our school. Therefore, you can make a big impact with your insights. In this newly established role of coordinatior data-intensive research, you'll have four core responsibilities:
  1.          Coordinating and supporting two theme groups that will work on collecting new data that helps ESHPM to meet its strategic goals (theme group 1) and on unlocking the full potential of the data currently available at ESHPM and acquiring access to existing data (theme group 2).
  2.          Exploring opportunities to collaborate with research groups within and beyond Erasmus University that have specific expertise in the field of data access and data analysis that is relevant for ESHPM. These groups and initiatives include e.g. ODISSEI, Erasmus Center for Data Analytics, Erasmus Research Suite and the University Library. To get these collaborations started, the coordinator takes the lead in identifying two pilot research projects that may be carried out with the help of experts within and outside ESHPM.
  3.          Daily supervision of the data analyst who ESHPM will recruit this summer and who will be contributing, among other things, to the two pilot research projects.
  4.          Creating/maintaining an overview of data use at ESHPM to identify opportunities for reusing existing data for new research projects.

The coordinator will directly report to the Dean and Director of Operations of ESHPM.

Requirements

  • You understand what is required to set up, lead and finish a data-intensive research project. For instance, because you have a PhD degree in health or social sciences or other relevant research experience ;
  • You can work in multidisciplinary teams and can communicate with people from different disciplines and different backgrounds;
  • You are able to translate more abstract strategic goals to tactical and operational plans of action and are able to motivate people to participate in those;
  • You have the ability to identify problems, challenges, and opportunities;
  • You can formulate ways forward that fit the organizational context, can discuss these with others and can take the lead in the implementation;
  • You are good at convincing others;
  • You have excellent English communication and writing skills;
  • It is preferred if you have or want to develop Dutch communication and writing skills.

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job as coordinator data-intensive research in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The start date of this position is as soon as possible, and you will be based at the Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam, located at Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM). The position is for 0,8 fte - 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 5.247 to a maximum of € 6.737 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with Scale 12 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme.
