Your position  
As an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University your primary responsibilities encompass:

  • Engaging in rigorous scientific research and publishing in high quality academic journals.
  • Mentoring doctoral students and providing co-supervision.
  • Delivering lectures and guiding students through teaching and supervision. 

Your responsibilities  
The position carries a low teaching load, allowing time for conducting high quality research. 
There are opportunities to teach in lifelong development programs.

Your terms of employment

  • A position based on 1,0 fte (40 hours per week) on a 6 year contract, with the prospect of obtaining a permanent contract after a successful review of research, teaching, and citizenship in the 5th year. The compensation package is competitive relative to European salaries with good fringe benefits.
  • You will initially receive a temporary contract for the duration of 60 months with a prospect of a permanent employment contract.
  • A starting salary ranging from a minimum of € 5,247 to a maximum of € 6,002 gross per month for fulltime employment, based on UFO profile Assistant Professor and salary scale 12 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.  

In addition to your monthly salary, you will receive 41 vacation days (for a 40-hour work week), a holiday allowance (8%), and a year-end bonus (8.3%). We reimburse the full cost of sustainable commuting: walking, cycling, or public transportation. Employees are enrolled in the ABP pension fund. Costs associated with sustainable commuting (walking, cycling, public transportation) are fully reimbursed. The university offers outstanding employee benefits (i.e., employment options model), excellent reimbursement of moving expenses, as well as assistance in finding suitable accommodation and in other relevant relocation issues. The university has a hybrid work policy which allows to work a number of days a week from home. Applicants from outside the Netherlands may qualify for a temporary tax-free allowance of 30% (note: tax regulation may change as of January 1, 2024) of their taxable salary if they meet the relevant conditions.
