Job description

Microbiological laboratory assistant required to execute an experiment on bacteriophage extraction from soil matrices. Tasks involve sterile culture of bacteria and phages, soil preparation and extraction.

Requirements

  • Completed or completing MSc or HBO in microbiology or related discipline
  • Experienced in sterile culture techniques for microorganisms
  • Comfortable working in an interdisciplinary, English-language research environment
  • Self-disciplined, organized and with careful attention to detail.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 months.

A short-term (Jan + Feb 2024) position for 5 days a week is available in the Department of Terrestrial Ecology at the NIOO (with duration and schedule negotiable). NIOO is an internationally leading centre of ecological research with cutting-edge laboratory facilities. The position is within a growing research group establishing foundational methods in the field of viral ecology in soil.

Depending on education and experience the minimum salary is €2.618,- and the maximum salary is €3.298,- gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale 6 cao Nederlandse Universiteiten/KNAW). This is exclusive of 8% vacation allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, travel allowance, internet allowance, home working allowance and pension accrual with ABP.
