Job description

The successful candidate will have a PhD in areas such as cognitive sciences, artificial intelligence, computer science, or cognitive psychology, and a strong affinity with learning and education, immersive education, and/or virtual, mixed and/or augmented reality. The candidate should have strong social skills, be a motivator, organizer and team player. He or she has very strong project management skills and experience in research projects, and is able to function on an executive, tactical and strategic level. The candidate should be decisive and result-oriented.

Requirements

  1. Helping to organize the Learning & Education program between departments, schools and institutes within Tilburg University, and between Tilburg University and other universities;
  2. Being a central go-to person within the Learning & Education program and knowledgeable about developments in research programs and initiatives;
  3. Coordinating incoming and outgoing information, including progress reports;
  4. Coordinating events related to the program, including colloquia, invited speakers, etc.
  5. Conducting, directing, and facilitating research in virtual and mixed reality, intelligent tutoring systems, and gamification.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1+2 years.

The candidate receives a contract for 1 year which, after a positive evaluation, will be continued for 2 years. The postdoctoral candidate will be ranked in the Dutch university job ranking system (UFO) as researcher (3) with a starting salary in scale 11 of € 3.475,- gross per month minimally and up to € 4.757,- maximally (amounts fulltime). Candidates from outside the Netherlands may qualify for a tax-free allowance equal to 30% of their taxable salary. The university will apply for such an allowance on their behalf. The university offers very good fringe benefits, such as a holiday allowance, an options model for terms and conditions of employment and excellent reimbursement of moving expenses.

Department

Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences (TSHD) conducts scientific research and education in the fields of Communication and Information Sciences, Philosophy, Religious studies and Language and Culture studies. The School of Humanities features three departments, several research institutes and a faculty office. Each year around 275 students commence a Bachelor or (Pre) Master Program. The School has approximately 1300 students and 250 employees.
