As (junior) lecturer you will be part of course teams and have a variety of teaching tasks, such as preparing and teaching courses at bachelor and master level, tutoring of student groups, grading assessments and exams, supervision of theses and other student projects. You will take care of qualitatively good teaching in accordance with academic and faculty guidelines. The educational model is Problem-based Learning. Teaching and working language is English.

The ideal candidate has a thorough knowledge of sustainable development, and has teaching skills or is willing to acquire them. In particular, you:

• Have a Master degree in sustainability science and/or sustainable development;
• Are familiar with Problem-based Learning or other student-centred education approaches;
• Are able to inspire students from undergraduate to graduate levels, (as will be) apparent from positive evaluations by students and peers;
• Are able to contribute to education innovation in terms of content, didactics and technology;
• Have good communication and coordination skills;
• Have excellent command of spoken and written English;
• Are able to work in an international academic environment, both as team player and independently;
• Are able to start in September 2020 or as soon as possible

Fixed-term contract: 2 years with a possibility to extend for two more years.

• A fulltime position as (junior) lecturer (38 hours per week) for two years. With a possibility to extend for two more years;
• Salary scale 10 (€ 2.790 - € 4.402 gross per month). Salary depending on qualification and work experience, based on our Collective Labour Agreement (CAO-NU);

School of business and Economics, Maastricht Sustainabilty Institute

School of Business and Economics (SBE) is one of the youngest Faculties of Business and Economics in the Netherlands. It has a distinctive international profile and is Triple Crown accredited. It provides high-quality education and conducts excellent research with an international perspective. SBE strongly believes in creating close collaborations with its academic partners and societal stakeholders, its students and alumni, and with businesses and organisations in the Limburg Euregion, the Netherlands, Europe and the rest of the world.

Maastricht Sustainability Institute (MSI) is part of the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University, and with its focus on sustainable development in research and education centrally at the interface of science, policy and society. The institute offers the Master programme Sustainability Science, Policy and Society (which attracts a large international, multidisciplinary student population) and is working on a new Master programme in Sustainable Business. The institute provides also sustainability education at bachelor level. The multidisciplinary staff (ca. 40 persons) has an interdisciplinary working style and transdisciplinary interest for addressing sustainability problems.
