Job description

This tenure-track position at the Department of Health Sciences involves both teaching and research. More specifically, the candidate is expected to coordinate and deliver high quality teaching in courses on Research Methods, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, mainly in the Bachelor programs for the various life sciences programs within the Faculty of Science. The candidate will also be involved in the supervision of BSc and MSc internships.
Furthermore, the candidate is expected, over time, to write innovative proposals to acquire external funds, thereby establishing a personal research line. This research line should focus on health sciences and should extend or complement one of the research lines within our department.

Requirements

  • a PhD in the field of Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, Medical Sciences, Psychology, or a closely related field
  • a basic qualification in teaching for Dutch universities ('BKO') or comparable (international) qualification, or willing to acquire this qualification after appointment
  • comfortable with teaching in the Dutch language
  • strong affinity with teaching research methods, epidemiology and biostatistics, with a specific focus on BSc students in life sciences programs
  • a track record of international publications
  • excellent social skills, and be an excellent team builder and collaborator

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 5 years.

A challenging position in a societally involved organization. On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €3,746 (scale 11)
and a maximum €5,127 (scale 11), depending on your education and experience. The job profile: Universitair Docent 2/ Assistant Professor 2 is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 0.8 FTE.

We offer a tenure-track position for the duration of 5 years. During this period, performance will be evaluated according to pre-set criteria in terms of research quality, teaching quality, publication record, and acquisition of project funding. After a successful evaluation, permanent employment will be granted in the position of Assistant Professor / Universitair Docent 1.

Specific research lines within the department are prevention, nutrition, lifestyle & youth, infectious diseases, musculoskeletal disorders and health technology assessment.
