The General Affairs department is headed by the Secretary of the University and consists of the Board Staff, the Board Secretariat, Education Policy Cluster, Research Policy Cluster, Strategic Partnerships and Operational Audit.

What will you be doing?

As Board Secretary you are responsible for the preparation, minutes taking and follow-up of administrative meetings. You support the Secretary of the University in policy and administrative decision-making. You work closely with the secretaries of other boards in order to ensure that the management decision-making process run as effectively and efficiently as possible.

You keep a good overview and look ahead. You will check decisions against decision-making frameworks, procedures and legal provisions. You are responsible for communicating (internally) the board's decisions and coordination of the annual report preparation.

To do your job well, you will have regular contact with internal stakeholders, such as colleagues within General Affairs, other Support Services and the policy staff, directors and deans of the Departments. You will become member of a small team consisting of two other board secretaries and a register/clerk.

Requirements

Employees of General Affairs are in many cases the pivot between the administration and the organization. We are therefore looking for a Board Secretary with the following profile:
  • You have a Master's degree;
  • You have extensive experience (>5 years) with support or advice at governance level, preferably in a higher education environment;
  • You have knowledge of strategy development on an organizational level;
  • You are familiar with employees' rights of participation in decision-making processes;
  • You are independent, proactive, recognize bottlenecks and signals, come up with solutions and know how to move others;
  • You have an energetic and optimistic personality with good sense of humor;
  • You have excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and in Dutch;
  • You have strong analytical skills and are able to convince people;
  • You are a team player;
  • You are able to cope with stress and create and maintain an overview and monitor progress.

Conditions of employment

You will become part of our beautiful TU/e community with 11.000 students, 5000 employees and 90 nationalities.

An employment contract and salary in accordance with scale 12 (max. €,6.181,- in accordance with the CAO NU).
