Tasks
As a talented tenure track (TT) researcher or senior researcher, you advance the current research line by innovating the theory, methodology and themes of study and collaborating with the team about future directions for the research group. You take a leading role in the research group and at the institute and inspire and supervise PhD candidates and postdocs.
You do empirical research with rigorous research designs in close collaboration with other researchers and societal partners. You take a leading role in delivering high-quality scholarly publications. You initiate grant applications and maintain collaborations within the institute and beyond. Further, the position involves actively engaging in societal outreach activities and communicating with media and stakeholders.

The Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR) has one of the world’s leading research groups using video-based methods to study crime, violence, and conflicts in public spaces. Examples of current research topics are: bystander behavior in interpersonal conflicts, police use of force, the physical expression of victim distress, and compliance with interventions to foster a safe and inclusive public space.
Within this research group, we embrace team-based research, encourage open science principles, and promote individual initiative and input from group members who differ in seniority, scientific approach, and perspective. As our group is growing in numbers and the research field is expanding, we are looking for a tenure track or senior researcher to guide and innovate video-based research.
