Job description

The Financial Markets department at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association seeks qualified candidates to fill the position at the rank of a PostDoc in Financial Economics (f/m/x), JEL Classification: G.
The successful candidate is dedicated to excellent research in Financial Economics. A focus on household finance and/or real estate expertise paired with an excellent command of the latest empirical methods is a strong advantage. Experience in machine learning and automated data collection methods are additional assets. We offer a vibrant, international research environment, light non-research duties, an outstanding database infrastructure, an active seminar culture, and generous research support.

Requirements

The requirements for the position are: the completion of a PhD in Economics or Finance by summer of 2022 at the latest, the potential for successful publications in international journals, and ideally an existing network of international research collaborations. It is expected that the candidate is prepared to teach at graduate and undergraduate level and take responsibility for research-related policy work. While knowledge of German is desirable, it is not a requirement for the position.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: Three years.

The contract is fixed for a term of three years. Applications from disabled persons will be given priority in the case of equal suitability, ability and professional expertise.
