Job description

As a policy advisor in education, you will support the Academic Director of Education in all kinds of activities. These activities lie in the field of Teaching and Examination Regulations (TER), learning trajectories, course and curriculum evaluations, assessment plan, etc. Additionally, you will plan and organize workshops and seminars for staff and students and you are a sparring partner for the Academic Director of Education and for other staff members. You are more than welcome to contribute to the strategy of the Faculty within the field of education. Activities may vary throughout the year and require both a high thinking level as well as practical skills.

The main tasks are:

- maintaining and adjusting the Teaching and Examination Regulations (TER)
- developing learning trajectories
- evaluate course units and curriculum
- implementing UG assessment plan at UCG
- planning and organizing workshops and seminars for staff and students
- representing UCG at UG wide meetings on behalf of the Academic Director of Education.

Requirements

- a completed academic Master’s degree
- working experience in a university setting
- experience in and knowledge of policy processes in education
- skills in Excel and data collection is a plus
- demonstrable knowledge of English at C1 level
- passive knowledge of Dutch is a plus (to represent UCG in UG wide meetings)
- a tolerant and flexible personality and a pro-active and positive attitude
- competencies such as conceptual capacity, persuasiveness, written fluency and result orientation.

Your service-oriented and problem-solving attitude enables you to identify bottlenecks and improve processes. You feel responsible to meet deadlines and to steer processes tightly. You are an expert in creating support and in that capacity, you know how to get things done. You possess a certain degree of persuasiveness, you can work well independently and you react proactively to changes. Your colleagues in education appreciate it that you think along with them and react quickly.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

The University of Groningen offers, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary, depending on qualifications and work experience, with a minimum of € 2,960 to a maximum of € 4,670 (salary scale 10) gross per month for a full-time position
- excluding 8% holiday allowance, 8,3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees. Favourable tax agreements may apply to non-Dutch applicants
- an appointment for the period of 12 months. The UFO profile is Policy Advisor 4.

In the field of Education, we are looking for a new Policy Advisor who will work closely together with our Academic Director of Education. As a Policy Advisor, you not only have a broad function but you also regularly dive into depth. Because we are a small faculty, this offers you opportunities to develop yourself in the full spectrum.

As a Policy Advisor, you will be part of the close-knit team of Support staff at UCG. The team consists of 17 colleagues working in the broad field of Education Support: Academic Advice, Exchange, Internships, Career, Administration, Secretariat, Communication, Marketing, Recruitment, Education Policy and Facilities. Even though we all have our own main tasks, we help each other out in peak times. At UCG as part of Support Staff, you will be in close contact with our Academic Staff.
This temporary position is mainly focused in giving support to the Academic Director of Education, which whom you will work closely together with.
