Job description

Due to temporary absence of our current technician, there is a temporary one-year open position within the Analytical Unit. Therefore the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry is looking for a motivated technician to support the daily operation of its analytical unit.

Job description
You will be part of the team that is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the analytic facility. This comprises maintaining analytical instruments (e.g. HPLC, GC), performing service analyses (e.g. ICP-OES), trouble shooting, interactions with service engineers, ordering instrument parts and performing repairs. An important part of the tasks will be to provide training and -support for the (PhD)-students and Post Docs and their research. This includes advising on analytical techniques to use to solve specific research questions and providing assistance with interpretation of data.

Organisation
The Faculty of Science & Engineering hosts a broad scope of disciplines and research fields. Research and teaching programs vary from nano science to astronomy, mathematics, chemistry and physics, from neuro science, molecular and evolutionary biology to chemical biology. Our researchers focus on fundamental and curiosity-driven research, in close collaboration with2 industry, health care, and societal bodies.

Requirements

- Hbo-degree or equivalent abroad in a study related to chemistry and/or life sciences
- experienced in the operation of analytical instruments, such as HPLC and GC instruments, in a laboratory
- an interest in- and affinity with maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs of analytical instruments
- being able set priorities
- proactive independent mindset and service mentality
- good communication skills.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

- a salary, depending on your experience of minimum € 3,098 up to a maximum of € 4,257 (salary scale 9) gross per month when fulltime appointed in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities
- a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income
- an 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance.
