Postdoctoral position in Geomicrobiology and (Bio)geochemistry

Specifically, the main goals are to determine the mineralogical, chemical and microbial composition of carbonate minerals that have been formed under a wide range of physicochemical conditions (pH, T, salinity, etc). This work is important for interpreting carbonates in natural systems and their use in paleo-environmental reconstructions and the search for life in other planets.

Your duties

• Participation and implementation of research projects with a focus on microbial-mineral interactions, analysis of environmental and experimental carbonate samples.
• Supervision of students and participation in the management and administration of the geobiology laboratory, teaching and research.
• Performance of laboratory culture experiments.
• Process and interpret experimental data.
• Present and promote the results obtained (reports, publications, conferences);
• Collaborate with team, exchange and share knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with milestones and deliverables.

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. The salary will be in accordance with university regulations for academic personnel (postdoc) based on a full-time employment. The job profile is based on the university job ranking system and is vacant for at least 1 FTE.

The Earth Sciences Department at the Faculty of Science offers a stimulating multidisciplinary working environment in research and teaching within two clusters: Geology and Geochemistry and Earth and Climate. This PhD position is in the Geology and Geochemistry cluster that covers a broad spectrum of research including isotopic and trace element studies of the Earth system, time scales and rates processes, sedimentology and stratigraphy, geomicrobiology and biogeochemistry, Earth’s climate, geodynamics and tectonics, and planetary science.
